Wow, It’s About Time………

I apologize wholeheartedly that I haven’t written a blog entry in quite a long time.  I’ve kept my facebook up to date, but my blog has suffered terribly.

Since my last post, I have designed new gift certificates for the studio!  Let me know what you think.

Genevieve’s Dance Recital

This Saturday is the Dance Recital for The Dance Company in Kingsburg. My daughter has danced with the studio since the day they opened. She know is a teacher’s aide along with a student at TDC. Friday was her dress rehearsal. Here are a few of my favorite images from the rehearsal…..The first three are numbers that my daughter is in. The last image is from a number called “Cinderella.” My daughter is not in this number, but it was one of my favorite images of the day.

BROTHERLY LOVE

This one is short and sweet. I love working with children in the studio. I enjoy taking multiple shots and combining them into one piece to capture a more complete glimpse into their personalities! I love my job! This is from a session this past week.

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend!

The past month has found me buried in weddings and High School Seniors. I figured it was about time to try and start catching up on my blog once again!

Thursday afternoon before the incredible lightning storm we had here, I had the privilege of having Alyssa and her family in my studio. During our consultation the week before I learned a few things about Alyssa, and we decided on some props for her to bring. These props included her FFA jacket, her flute, her softball gear (she’s a catcher), and dad’s motorcycle. We had a blast.

One of the images we were both excited about creating was the shot in her catcher gear. I do a lot of custom work in my studio, and have found that it’s the clients that have strong personalities, or interests that are the easiest to design custom work for. We laughed a lot on Thursday afternoon. Matter of fact, there were a few shots I’d try to take without her smiling….and we’d all end up laughing again anyway. But…once she put her catcher gear on, I had to work hard to even get a tiny grin out of her. She’s all business once she’s in her gear.

For those of you that know my family, my daughter is a huge baseball fan. She has a shirt that has a baseball diamond on the front of it, with the saying “The baseball diamond is this girl’s best friend.” I thought that Diamonds are a girl’s best friend would be a great title for the piece. Here’s the custom piece that was designed with the images of her in her gear…..

Rosa and Scott’s Wedding at Wolf Lakes

This past week I had the wonderful pleasure of capturing the memories at Rosa and Scott’s Wedding. The wedding took place at Wolf Lakes in Sanger, CA. It is an incredibly beautiful location for a wedding. Beautiful gardens, a lakeside venue, and a wonderful staff to insure the day is everything the couple dreams it could be.

The first one dressed and ready on the wedding day was the couples daughter Kayla. She and I went for a walk while everyone else was still getting ready. Here’s one of my favorite shots from that walk.

After my walk with Kayla I spent some time with the guys. Here’s my favorite shot of Scott with the groomsmen.

I always try and have a good 30-60 minutes alone with the wedding couple. I want to be able to provide them with beautiful images they can display in their home, or feature in an album. Here are some of my favorite images of Rosa and Scott.
We were on our way to the dock for some photographs, when Scott reached down and swept Rosa off of her feet. He carried her all the way to the dock. I thought it was rather romantic, until he pretended to throw her in the lake….lol

Once on the dock, I was able to capture some beautiful images. Rosa and Scott had practiced the “almost kiss” in their engagement session. Woohoo, boy did they get it right on the dock! I LOVE this shot!

There’s a vine covered walkway at Wolf Lakes that’s really neat when it’s lit up at night. I stole Rosa and Scott away from the reception for a few to take some more shots of just them. Here they are dancing in the walkway.

Some of the last moments I spent with Rosa and Scott were in the courtyard next to the fountain. As much as I loved the photograph and the moment that took place…I love the “art” version of the moment even better. This is the photo that was taken by the fountain.

null

This is the art version, but to me it still didn’t seem finished.

null

Here’s the final version of the art piece. I have been waiting for just the right image to use on a Metal Mural sample. Soon, this should be in my studio as a 4’x3′ Metal Mural!
null

Rosa and Scott, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day! I can’t wait for you to see the rest of the images.

A big thank you also to the staff of Wolf Lakes. They did an amazing job of making the evening a wonderful memorable event!
