Rosa and Scott’s Wedding at Wolf Lakes

This past week I had the wonderful pleasure of capturing the memories at Rosa and Scott’s Wedding. The wedding took place at Wolf Lakes in Sanger, CA. It is an incredibly beautiful location for a wedding. Beautiful gardens, a lakeside venue, and a wonderful staff to insure the day is everything the couple dreams it could be.

The first one dressed and ready on the wedding day was the couples daughter Kayla. She and I went for a walk while everyone else was still getting ready. Here’s one of my favorite shots from that walk.

null

After my walk with Kayla I spent some time with the guys. Here’s my favorite shot of Scott with the groomsmen.

I always try and have a good 30-60 minutes alone with the wedding couple. I want to be able to provide them with beautiful images they can display in their home, or feature in an album. Here are some of my favorite images of Rosa and Scott.
We were on our way to the dock for some photographs, when Scott reached down and swept Rosa off of her feet. He carried her all the way to the dock. I thought it was rather romantic, until he pretended to throw her in the lake….lol

null

Once on the dock, I was able to capture some beautiful images. Rosa and Scott had practiced the “almost kiss” in their engagement session. Woohoo, boy did they get it right on the dock! I LOVE this shot!
null

There’s a vine covered walkway at Wolf Lakes that’s really neat when it’s lit up at night. I stole Rosa and Scott away from the reception for a few to take some more shots of just them. Here they are dancing in the walkway.

Some of the last moments I spent with Rosa and Scott were in the courtyard next to the fountain. As much as I loved the photograph and the moment that took place…I love the “art” version of the moment even better. This is the photo that was taken by the fountain.

null

This is the art version, but to me it still didn’t seem finished.

null

Here’s the final version of the art piece. I have been waiting for just the right image to use on a Metal Mural sample. Soon, this should be in my studio as a 4’x3′ Metal Mural!
null

Rosa and Scott, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day! I can’t wait for you to see the rest of the images.

A big thank you also to the staff of Wolf Lakes. They did an amazing job of making the evening a wonderful memorable event!

Engagement Session With My New Video Light

Today I met with one of my upcoming wedding couples. We arranged to meet in Visalia at a little park near downtown. When we met, the sun was still a bit too bright for my liking. We got a couple shots off and then a full on bridal party in a limo pulls up. The photographer for the wedding party that arrived is a friend of mine, and fellow Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep photographer. I knew she would be working on a tight time schedule, so I started to look around for an alternate location to shoot.

In trying to find a brick wall, we noticed that across the street from this little park we were in is a beautiful red brick church. We decided to look closer. I am so glad that we did. What a beautiful little courtyard this little church has. I decided to run back to my truck and grab my new video light. The three shots below are taken using the video light for light.

Another shot from the little church courtyard.

It was then just about sunset. On my way to meet them I had passed a huge field filled with yellow flowers (ok, filled with yellow weeds….itchy yellow weeds!). We left the little church just in time to get to the field for sunset. Once again, this shot is lit with the video light.

Congratulations Gigi and Martin!

Yesterday I shot my first wedding of ’09. What a pleasure it was to be part of Gigi and Martin’s day.

Gigi and Martin were married in a small Nazarene Church in Ivanhoe, a little country church, with limited venues for outside shots.

Some things are starting to bloom around here, but we weren’t going to find any lush green landscape anywhere close. While driving to the ceremony location a week prior to the ceremony, I passed this amazing walnut orchard. The trees were very mature and for lack of a better word, pretty “gnarly”

I made plans with the bride and groom to kidnap the wedding party from the ceremony site to head to this orchard before sunset.

Most of the wedding party thought I was nuts……but I’m pretty happy with the results! I’ll post a few more of my favs in a day or two!

Custom Design Work

I provide a lot of custom work for my clients.  It’s probably one of the best kept secrets in my studio.  One of the biggest secrets I’d like to share with everyone.  I guess I’ve hoped word of mouth will help spread the news, but I’m going to do a bit of the sharing myself.

This past week I have designed wedding invitations, birthday invitations, thank you cards, custom canvas pieces, and more!  Here are a few of the items I’ve recently designed for clients!

This was designed for a high school senior!

This is one of the thank you notes I designed this week…..
